Can you recommend a hybrid alternative to a Mercedes-Benz E350?

I have a Mercedes-Benz E350 but would like to replace it. Is there any new 3.0-litre six-cylinder hybrids available similar to my E-Class?

If you can charge a car at home and cover lots of local miles, the BMW 545e plug-in hybrid might be a good option. It combines a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine with a 11.6kWh battery and an electric motor. If you fancy something a bit left-field, look at the Lexus LS 500h. It's bigger than your E-Class but uses a ('self-charging') hybrid powertrain with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine.

I'm looking to buy a new, medium-sized petrol hybrid for under £30,000. I've tried a Toyota Corolla and the new Honda Civic, both are good. Are there any other cars I should consider before making a decision?
