Bought a bad car, what are my legal rights?
We bought a used Ssangyong Musso last August from a garage for £1500 (reduced from £2000).
We were given a three month warranty and a 12 month MoT. We first had a problem with the immobiliser and often the car refused to start, and also the car refused to stop!
You could take the key out and the car would still be on, the only way to stop the car was to put in gear and stall it. we phoned the garrage and they picked up the car and sorted it (it was better not perfect). Then when we tried to put it into 4wd that wasnt working at all, we contacted him and he arranged to pick up the car (by now October) but didn't turn up and didn't reply to any text, we were then moving house so had no time to chase him up but still left him messages and texts.
We also had to change the glow plugs and all the brake pads ourselves. The gears then went stiff the last couple of days and today the gear stick seems to have disconnected. All in all a very bad car from the start and we are now six months later and want to know our rights.

Not good for a car you admit you got at trade price (reduced to £1,500 from £2,000) bought 6 months ago. It is completely "unreasonable" to expect a cheap car bought on trade terms to remain in perfect running condition. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights
