Should I pay to protect my no claims bonus?
I have a 16 year no claims bonus. Is it worth paying to protect this with my car insurance policy?

Protecting your no claims bonus will let you make a small number of claims (typically up to three over three years) without your discount being impacted. This protection is for your discount and not for the overall cost of your premium so if you do have a discount that doesn't mean your premium won't rise.
Whether it's worth paying for is debatable as it could add five to 10 per cent to your annual premium. Also, bear in mind that most insurers set a maximum number of years for which you can build a no claims bonus for.
