Do I have to renew my driving licence as soon as I am 70?

I have just turned 70. The expiry date on my licence at 4b (expiry date) shows 2023. Do I need to renew now or wait until next year? I have had no reminder. I tried to do it online anyway but a message comes up that says I am ineligible. What exactly do I need to do?

You do not need to renew your licence now. The validity of a driving licence can go past the age of 70 as after the age of 67 drivers will be given a three-year licence. As your licence is still valid you will get a reminder sent to you 90 days before the expiry date next year and you can then apply for a renewal.
