Can I leave a towing eye fitted to the front of a car?

Is it illegal to leave towing eye fitted to a car?

It is illegal to leave it fitted to the front of the car. Not only with a protruding towing eye at the front of the car cause an MoT failure, but it could result in a personal injury claim if it causes injury to a pedestrian as they brush past your car in the street.
