Should I buy a petrol or diesel Corsa?

I am looking to purchase a Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 SE or Energy 2014/2016. Is the mpg suggested in your review regarding E5 or E10 petrol? There are so many conflicting reports on excessive petrol consumption. I wondered if it would be better to go for the diesel version.

Those MPG figures will likely be based on E5 so you can knock 10% off thanks to the switch to E10.

A general rule of thumb is that it makes sense to stick with petrol if you do less than 10,000 miles per year. The diesel model's DPF filter also needs regular motorway runs to regenerate, without them it will eventually need to be cleaned or replaced – neither of which are cheap.
