Does E10 petrol affect fuel performance?
There are many reports of E10 petrol affecting the performance and economy of cars.
I am looking for a new car next year and want to know if the fuel affects highly rated engines or lower rated engines more.
I would like to buy a small more powerful car such as a Hyundai i20 N and wondered if it would be more badly affected than a less highly rated car.

There have been reports of E10 affecting fuel performance on older cars. The Department for Transport puts this figure at one or two per cent. However, I have not seen any hard data to back up this claim and some drivers claim E10 uses much more fuel than the old E5 mixture.
That said, new cars are designed for E10 and are WLTP tested with this fuel. Therefore, I would argue that fuel economy and engine performance shouldn't be affected on a 2021 or 2022 model.
