Police letter about not stopping or reporting accident

I have just got home and have a letter from the police saying that I am being sought for driving without due care and attention, failure to stop at an accident and failure to report an accident at Tescos car park on 13th December 2010.

Now I was there that evening, but I am now aware of any accident, I am a 32 year old woman who hates driving as it is and this has shaken me to the core.

Yes it is possible I could have bumped someone but I didn't realize. I certainly would stop if I had had an accident and there is no damage to my car. I am most shaken by this and very very upset as have had my license for about 9 months and am a careful diver.

It does not go into this alleged accident give any details, but ask me to write back on any disputes. I am going to say that can they give me time please and details of this accident, as I do not recall having one. If I have knocked a car slightly then I did not realize and will be happy to pay for any damage caused. They can check my car, it has no damage (part from usual bumps from an old car)

I am very much in state over this, fearing I will be banned from driving and taken to court. I don't ever want to drive again.

Yes, do what you propose to do. Bear in mind that there may be closed circuit video evidence of whatever happened and that is how you have been traced.
