My insurance company won't cover a claim for stone chips. What do you suggest?

My car is covered in small stone chips that happened on a motorway drive. The paintwork is ruined but my insurance company refuses to recognise it as accidental damage even though it was one occasion. They claim stone chips occur over a number of occasions when the marks are clearly consistent with a single stone shower. What do you advise, please?

I'm not sure it would be worthwhile claiming this on your insurance. The impact on your no-claims history and the voluntary excess payment would probably outweigh the cost of paying for the repairs yourself. A local independent bodyshop will be able to fix this. Or you might be able to get the paintwork marks out yourself: kit.honestjohn.co.uk/reviews/review-farecla-g3-pro...d
