Vauxhall Curser

I need your help with my Vauxhall Corsa. I bought a 2005 1.2 SXI last year in May 2008 from Vauxhall dealer for a high price because the car had only one previous owner and had done low mileage of 33,000. Two days ago I was driving in the night on the motorway and my camshaft broke, which led me call the RAC to tow me home. My car has just reached 40,000miles with MoT and full service just 2 months ago. Now my garage is telling me that it will cost around £800 and my warranty cover expired in May 2009. Can you please advise me what to do as I have no way to support this huge amount and need some advice. Can I claim this back from Vauxhall?

It's a common, well-known problem with the Corsa 1.2 16v. First job if you buy one is to torque down the camshaft retaining bolts. Worth taking this up with the dealer and with Vauxhall. You bought the car from a Vauxhall dealer, so you have every right to expect that a well known fault with its engine had been put right.
