Half braked

My daughter had a similar experience to AF (Honest John July 25) with her Golf, which was 6 months out of warranty. The ABS pump failed and the VW dealer quoted £1,500 to replace it. After some protestation, this was reduced to a mere £800 with discounts from the VW and the dealer. This was shortly after the radiator had to be replaced at a cost of around £250.

Common problem, as I wrote, which VAG has now acknowledged. The company will pay 100% of the cost of replacement if the car has been serviced correctly by VW dealers, including a change of brake fluid every 2 years. Even if the car has been serviced outside the VW dealer chain, the company says it will be sympathetic over claims.
