Warming signs
I took my Primera to the dealership to have a seatbelt warning light put right under a warranty and they gave the car a health check. A week later, I was back for an aircon recharge, they gave it another health check and found a rattle from the front exhaust pipe. They quoted £303 to replace it or £40 to burn off the heat shield. Could I have your opinion?

Probably the heat shield for the cat converter. If you are not bothered by the rattle, leave it. If they take it off, what's going to happen to the heat that it shields the rest of the car from? You could end up with burned wiring as well as hot feet.
