I would really value your advice on the following issue: My Skoda Octavia 1.6MPI (petrol) Combi Elegance (purchased new in May 2005) has been diagnosed by my local Skoda Dealership as requiring a new air-conditioning compressor. The car currently has less than 30k miles on the clock - and the air-con is used fairly regularly, but not specifically for chilled air for the last 9 months. The Dealership has undertaken to enquire about possible goodwill response from the National distributors. The quoted cost for replacement (parts and labour) is almost €1,000 (£900). I remember reading somewhere about a possible coding error, requiring a simple recoding of the ECU. Am I being too optimistic in hoping for such a simple solution? Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
