Fishing chips
I have a BMW 123d and am looking at ways to further decrease my fuel consumption as I drive approx 100 miles per day, mainly all motorway sat on cruise control at 70. I see these Bluefin Superchip units promote reduction in fuel consumption. What is your opinion on these units? 1. Do they promote premature failure of internal components? 2. Will chipping cause premature wear and reduced long term reliability?

I rate Superchips as the best, most experienced outfit, and Bluefin is
their OBD II plug-in that recodes the ECU and restores the original coding without leaving a 'shadow'. I've driven a couple of Bluefinned cars and it definitely gave more torque at low revs. But the 123d is vary sophisticated anyway, with BMW’s Efficient Dynamics, so I wonder how much better Bluefin can make it and whether the cost of that might be more heat and more wear in the turbo. That's a reasonable question for you to ask Superchips. You have to tell your insurer. But if you and enough of the car survive a crash while chipped, with a Bluefin you can restore the factory settings via the OBDII port.
