Convertible asset
Due to an unexpected inheritance I find myself being able to buy the car I want. However, I would like to buy a convertible with an automatic gearbox and be able to carry my cocker spaniel. I did look at a Mazda MX-5 automatic, but I think it will be too small. Do you think a MINI would fit the bill and is it economical to run? Convertible asset Also there seem to be different models of MINI, such as 'S', 'John Cooper' and others. Can you recommend which is the best?

Yes, there's now a new MINI Convertible, tested and video tested at www.honestjohn.co.uk . I didn't drive the 6-speed AW automatic, but you can get it with the 1.6 Cooper and 1.6 Cooper S. Not the John Cooper Works, which is a bit extreme for carting a cocker spaniel around in anyway. MINIs tend to hold their value quite well.
