Crash curse

My son is on my car insurance policy and whilst working a while back as a delivery driver he collided with another vehicle (probably 50:50 blame). A third party claim was being made through his employers for whom he no longer works (and has no contact) and he is unable to find out anything about it and whether there is any record against his name and address (rather than the company's). I realise that I need to declare this incident to my insurers but I have no information to pass to them regarding status and outcome. One thought was to try to find out what is on the central insurers database, so is this something that 'joe public' can do please?

Your son can. Under the terms of the Data Protection Act you can demand to know what is recorded about you on any database, and in what format.
