Key issued

I am in total sympathy with J.K., who was quoted £160 for a replacement remote key for his Ford Fiesta. My husband recently purchased an 09 Ford Focus Zetec and when I put the coded master in the one door that has a lock (the driver’s), within a very short time the alarm went off. I rang the dealer who said I had also to turn the ignition key to position II. It is easy to turn it to position III instead which would start the engine ¬ not a good idea if the car is parked on a slope and you are standing beside it with bags full of shopping in one hand and a dog on a lead in the other. In high dudgeon, we visited the dealer who explained we could have an extra remote fob for £60 (the coded key was an extra £100) which would open the car or boot and the coded master could be used to start the car. We still felt ‘fobbed off’.
