Keen old Saaby
We are looking to trade in our old SAAB and get a double cab pick-up. We will be using it for collecting wood, round hay bales, travelling across fields, towing an open trailer and going up and down the potholed track to our house. It will also carry our 2 small children, so car seats must fit. We are thinking of a Ford Ranger, so nothing too flashy, just a good reliable workhorse to live along side the ancient short wheelbase LandRover and Subaru Forester that we already have. (It will be my day-to-day car). What do you recommend?

Ford does a Freedom cab with rear hinged pillarless rear doors that would make access to a couple of kids in the back very good and give you more loadspace than a standard four door pick-up. It's demonstrated in this video of the identical Mazda BT50: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road_tests/index.htm?id=351
