Blindingly obvious

Without a doubt switching on dipped lights in poor light conditions is a good safety feature. However it seems more and more people persist in having fog lights on as well. In daylight hours do drivers imagine it makes them any more visible, and at night it just makes driving conditions all that more difficult. Perhaps a mention in your column may make some people stop this annoying habit.

The EC is about to allow various different front lights to be used as
daytime running lights, and these are easily mistaken as 'foglights'. For example, FIAT 500s.
