Is it legal to do this?

I am taking my MX-5 latest model on holiday and want to increase luggage space by using a boot bag. http://www.boot-bag.com/new_page_6.htm

This will obscure the high level brake light which on the later models is placed just behind where the roof meets the boot.

Is it illegal to obscure that light?
