Prang and deliver

My wife's car was due for its MOT. I called the garage that we bought the car from as it had been serviced and MOTd by them since new (52 reg). Normally we have a courtesy car, but on this occasion they didn't have one available and that they now operate a collect and deliver service from home or work. So I agreed that they could collect the car from home. Then I received a call to say that the car had passed the MOT without any problems and I paid over the phone with my debit card. A bit later I received another call from the Service Manager, saying that the car had been involved in an accident as it was being returned to our house. When I went to see the car, at the garage, both nearside wheels were bent under the car and I was told that it had slid into a kerb sideways. What actions should I now take, the garage have promised to repair the car, but I'm concerned if it's written off by their insurers I will lose out?

I feel sorry for the garage. But it is liable and it has taken it on the chin. Doesn't matter what its insurer says. It damaged your property and it is liable to restore your property to the condition it was in before, or come to an agreement satisfactory to you.
