Inflated opinion

I have an 8 year old Golf V5 and very much like the look of the new Golf, which I believe is in showrooms now though I've not seen any on the road. My question is in view of the current economic situation can I still expect a good deal from the franchised dealer despite the new Golf being a brand new design or will it still command a premium due to being new? I intend to trade in the old Golf.

Not for long. Sterling is down 40% against the Euro and more than 40% against the Yen and the Thai baht so there is only one way prices for cars built in Europe and South East Asia can go. (When sterling was £1 = €1.5, £10,000 bought a €15,000 car. Now that £1 = €1.07, to buy a €15,000 car requires £14,018.69, an increase of 40.2%.)
