X tractor-van
I currently drive a 57 plate X5 7-seater, which we have had since new, and my husband drives and old but very well maintained 5 Series. He has been waiting to be able to afford a smart sporty something. In the meantime I have started to feel that I would like something smaller and my husband has said that as long as it is something he would be okay driving on the occasions when I would want the X5, he would be happy to have the X5 instead of his 'sporty something'. I have two children to consider, although they are now both out of pushchairs (currently 7 and 3) so boot space is not of huge importance. I mentioned a MINI, but my husband said no, he wouldn't like to drive a MINI. A friend has a C2 that she loves and says I should look at but I really value your opinion and would like to hear what you would suggest please. I would like the car to be funky, not staid and boring if possible and I would love to have parking sensors if possible as I've had them on this and the previous X5 so have rather got use to them.

For small and stylish, you can't beat a FIAT 500, which is also one of the least ‘macho’ cars you can buy. The new Ford Ka based on it rides and handles better. Best handling small cars are the Suzuki Swift 1.5 and Mazda 2 1.3TS2. A really great very small 5-seater is the Hyundai i10 1.2 from £7,000 to £8,500, with a 5-year warranty. Most of these tested and video tested at www.honestjohn.co.uk
