I have sought your views in the past about different models and would welcome your views on buying a second-hand (up to 2 years old) Note automatic. Also would appreciate some alternative models.

Not a bad choice. Possible alternatives are a Renault Modus (same autobox, but Renault engine) or a Honda Jazz 1.4 I-DSI CVT-7.
