Loitering within tent

I was driving my campervan way back in March this year. It's very temperamental, like most older campers. As usual, it broke down in a high street at a seaside location. It took a number of attempts from myself, my partner and friends to bump-start the camper and get it running smoothly. (Turned out it needed new carbs, so no wonder it was a struggle to make it run.) A member of the public has since reported my partner to the police for dangerous driving. The apparent offence was "straddling the white line and waving his hands in the air.” All 4 people involved in bump-starting the camper have given full police interviews detailing what happened that evening, and it is now going to court this month. I am trying to establish how relevant one person’s word is against another where a road traffic offence of this type has occurred. Also if there is any rights or relevant information can you provide us with to help in our defence? Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

If all of you show up and explain the situation. Then, with a bit of luck,
the cops will get a stiff lecture from the magistrates for wasting the
court's time. What is it with busybodies who report petty matters like this to the police? If I was the beak I would prosecute them for wasting police and court time. But I can tell you why it has gone to court. That's because it's an easy clear-up for crime figure targets. Not 'difficult', like catching and convicting a burglar or a vandal.
