I love my Honda CR-V Auto bought new 2002. I have done 48,000 miles with never a problem, and only just replaced the tyres. However you have troubled me with your comment, "most cars are built to last seven years and a major failure at eight years old can cost more than the car is worth to repair.” Should I worry, or have something checked out before problems, or start looking at a replacement?

Obviously have it serviced regularly (at least once a year). And just be prepared that if something big goes you have to weigh up the cost of repair against the value of the vehicle. But a 2001 CR-V is still worth at least £3,000.
