Going for broke
I read your reply regarding broken camshafts on Corsa etc. My wife owns a 06 plated 1.2 petrol Corsa that is soon due for its annual service. I contacted my Vauxhall main dealer to ask if they checked the camshaft retaining bolts at the annual service. They said no and claimed to have no knowledge of the problem you described. A quick search of the Internet shows many instances of the problem. One did tell me that if my wife wanted this doing they would do so but there would be a charge for doing it. Have I misunderstood the reply you gave as I thought you implied this should be done at any service? Furthermore I checked with Vauxhall and have it in writing that the camshaft bolts are not checked during a service.

In that case, any failure of camshafts in a car serviced by Vauxhall dealers renders Vauxhall directly liable to rectify the consequences of this failure. A manufacturer cannot produce a car with a well known fault then not perform in-service work to rectify this and expect to get away with it.
