Licenced to chill

I now live in Switzerland but plan to return to the UK in the next 4 years. I have a current Swiss licence, but they took away my English licence when they gave me the Swiss one. Will I need to go through the test ordeal again? Is it possible to reside in the UK and drive on a Swiss licence?

Switzerland is a 'designated country', so you can exchange your Swiss licence for a UK one when you return and once again become resident in the UK. Other designated countries are: Australia, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Faroe Islands, Falkland Islands, Hong Kong, Japan, Republic of Korea, Monaco, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and Zimbabwe. You can also exchange your licence for one from Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Gibralter and any EC or EEA country.
