Coupe de grace
I feel in need of a new car and I seek your advice please. Since 2002 I have greatly enjoyed my Peugeot 406 Coupe, particularly the Pininfarina design. Sadly, this model is out of production. I am nearing 65 but would like to buy a similar sporting, manual machine, ideally with four doors and a boot to take two sets of golf clubs and two trolleys, as my current car does. I would be prepared to pay an equivalent amount; I paid £24,000 for the new 406 Coupe eight years ago. Any help you could give me would be much appreciated and there is no urgency for your reply.

Renault Laguna Coupe. The 407 coupe is astonishingly quiet, and the Laguna isn't. But the Laguna is much better looking, at its best as a GT with rear steer and the 235PS V6 diesel engine it now shares with the Infiniti FX30D. Or a BMW E92 3-Series coupe. That’s by far the best looking 4-seater BMW of recent years.
