Ripping yarn
Honest John, some good feedback for a very common and dangerous problem with the SAAB 9-3. My suspension spring sheared and went through the tyre and brake pipe at speed. This is a very common problem.

Presumably you are referring to the current 9-3. If so, this is a problem with all European made coil springs on virtually ALL makes and models from Ford Fiestas to Mercedes E Class. A lot of these springs seem to be made by a Swedish company, Lesjofors. The problem is partly the steel, partly the way the spring is wound, partly the way it is finished off at the ends and partly the way it is seated. You can't blame Lesjofors because they have to make the springs down to a cost. And, of course, speed humps shorten the lives of any springs.
