ABS sense

My May 06 Octavia 2.0 TDI has just been diagnosed with the failure of the ABS unit [G201 fault code]. I note your recent comments about VW covering the cost of replacing the pump, but from other comments it seems Skoda is not necessarily going to follow the same line. Is there any sign of a consistent response from VAG marques on this problem? My car has been Skoda serviced from new and has covered almost 39,000 miles. My local dealer is quoting just over £1,000 for the repair including VAT and fitting. Any comments or advice welcome

Audi is best, VW next best, SEAT and Skoda joint worst. There is built in resistance to meeting these claims because of the effect
on VAG profits. Audi dealers generally have better profit margins, more money and value their customers better. VOSA, scandalously, refuses to issue a vehicle safety recall. Happily, a British company has come up with a permanent fix of the original units and at much less than the replacement cost of a unit that could fail again: More at ecutesting.com/vw_golf_touran_abs_pump_module.html
