Masse hysteria
My daughter, who lives in France, has a problem with her French bought 2005 Toyota RAV-4 D4D 2.0 Litre. It seems the “Volant Bi Masse” has packed up, which I take to be a dual mass flywheel. It will cost 4,000 Euros + fitting which is something like half the value of the car. Do you think there is any chance of Toyota contributing towards the cost of this repair? Your advice would be most appreciated

This is a very common problem with the previous model RAV-4 D4D that Toyota cannot pretend it is unaware of. Yes, she should push for a contribution towards the cost. €4,000 is a colossal amount, though. I would not expect a DMF and clutch to be more than £1,500 in the UK.
