Please advise if the use of cruise control on my 1.9SE TDI VW Passat Estate gives a better fuel consumption over and above normal accelerator use on long and motorway journeys.

Worse, because it maintains your speed up inclines when the most economical thing to do maintain the same amount of throttle and lose speed.
