Taxi breaks
The warranty is about to run out on my 2007/57 Octavia, which has been a taxi since new. So far the DMF has been replaced under warranty once at 30,000mls and more recently at 55,000 miles. My current mileage is 59,600 and warranty officially ends at 60,000 miles. What should I do? The garage informs me that a charge of approx £500 will be made if they find no fault, even though I've been there twice before and know that the symptoms are there already, although maybe not serious enough for replacement just yet. Can you help me?

You might be surprised to learn that when this happens most dealers blame the clutch and charge the customer whether the car is under warranty or not. That is a battle I am currently fighting. Valeo does solid flywheels for the model and that might be the answer.

I've been getting a kind of honking sound when I change down gears (usually from 3rd to 2nd). My local garage says it sounds like a dual mass flywheel problem, which costs over £1,000 to replace.
