I know your evaluation of Golf Mark IVs is based on reader feedback, but may I put in a good word for this car? I've had my 2002 Golf 1.9 PD TDI since new and, apart from the odd light bulb, etc. obviously, it has never given me a moment's concern. After 150,000 miles, it is still (almost) immaculate both inside and out and still exudes quality. OK, so I take great care of my cars as a non-technical owner and have it dealer-serviced regularly, but I see no reason why this car can't last me another 150,000 miles. After a succession of Renaults, FIATs and Alfas, it's still the best car I've ever owned and I can't see anything I'd exchange it for.
