We have a problem with my husband's Citroen van. It sometimes will not start. Our mechanic has looked over it and feels it something to do with the fuel pump. It does start sometimes, there seems to be no pattern to the problem. It broke down again today and the recovery service felt it was a problem with the fuel pump to the rear of the vehicle, rather than in the engine and said it was a problem common to Citroens. Are you aware of any such problem, and any solution?

That will be the fuel tank sender pump (the pump inside the fuel tank that sends the fuel from the tank to the injection pump on the engine). Might be the pump, might be its earth, might be its relay, or might be the earth to its relay.
