Cupra runneth over
I kept looking for a SEAT Leon 20VT, with little success, but then a Cupra R came up only a few miles from home. Although 02, it was lowish mileage and in exceptionally good condition. I loved it so much when I drove it, I didn't want to give it back. My garage checked it over for me when I took it for a test drive, so I bought it (£4,300 + my old K-reg Golf GTi). It is brilliant fun to drive so to heck with the extra tax and insurance. The only snag is I don’t get to drive it enough.

Yes, huge fun. After a stonking drive with George Fowler of ‘The Star’ on the launch I bought a 2-year-old 20VT for £7,800 a few years ago, then sold it after a brilliant year for £7,600, which I reckon wasn't bad. The main advantage of the hand-built Cupra R is much better brakes.
