Which, please, if any is the best MINI engine to combine with auto transmission?

They are all available with an Aisin Warner 6-speed torque converter autobox. So depends what you want. If you want performance, then obviously the Cooper S. If you want economy and do a relatively high mileage, then the 1.6 diesel. The 1.4 has just been dropped in favour of a 1.6 with more torque so that should pull the autobox better.
