Someone hit my car but is refusing to pay for repairs or give me their insurance details - what now?

My car was hit whilst in a supermarket car park. The driver who hit it left a first name and a mobile number. When I rang her she admitted blame and asked to not go through the insurance, to which I agreed. I got her full name and email but no car reg number, insurance company or address. I obtained an estimate from my local body shop guy (£420) and emailed to her. She emailed me back stating she would pay by bank transfer but it didn't happen. Since then she emailed to say it was too much and her insurance will deal with it, however, despite many requests for her full contact details, reg number and insurance company - she has failed to reply. I have a full email and text trail to prove the above. If I report it to my insurance company, I don't know if they'll be able to claim the full amount from her. Do I just take it on the chin, not inform my insurance and avoid a probable increase in next years premium?

Have you tried to contact her from another phone number? Can you not find here on social media? Contact the police and see if they can assist. Also, email her and advise that you will be providing her details to the police and that it is a legal requirement for her to provide her details. Contact the supermarket and see if there is CCTV footage too. Your insurer will need the other party's details to successfully claim. I would do the above prior to contacting your own insurer.
