Mercstake?
I am looking at a Mercedes 280E. It is 2006/56 and owned by a friend at my golf club. He says he has been offered £17k by Jaguar in exchange for an XKR. I have yet to drive it but I was very concerned over some user reports I read on the Internet, many of which stated that it is the last Merc they would ever own: far too many problems and Mercedes is not that interested in correcting the faults. I would very much appreciate your opinion on this car.

MB improved this model hugely in summer 2006, so a 2006/56 should be the improved version. You can tell if it is by the Venetian blind effect over the outer headlights of the improved version. An 06/56 E280 CDI Avantgarde trade books at £16,100.
