My daughter is replacing a SEAT Alhambra from which she had several years reliable service but latterly a lot of trouble. She is thinking of replacing it with either a Ford Galaxy diesel or a VW Sharan Diesel. Is there any real difference, either mechanically or electrically between these vehicles?

The diesels are exactly the same vehicles built in exactly the same factory in Portugal that now produces the VW Eos. Collectively they are the most common 7-seat MPVs and therefore the most available, but, of course, many have been taxis and a lot have been badly maintained and/or clocked.
