A friend of mine has a Golf Plus, just over 3 years old. Original owner, full VW service history, 42k miles. A braking system warning light came on. He was going to go non-franchise until I told him about your column. He had been quoted circa £800 plus labour for the job, and was prepared to pay, albeit reluctantly. He has gone to the selling dealer, who said VW would probably pay 100% parts and 50% labour. Trouble is, there seems to be a massive back order situation and even having called VW customer service, it looks as though there is a 6 MONTH wait for parts. If only life was as reliable as a VW.
