Problems with faulty Renault Zoe - what should I do?
I bought a new Renault Zoe 13 months ago. It broke down with charging problems (recovered to the dealer) six months ago and has failed three more times since then, with the most recent being a few weeks ago with more battery charging issues.
I’m engaging with the dealer from whom I purchased the Zoe, but they can’t fix it as they don’t have a qualified mechanic. As a result, they send it to another dealer. I’ve stated that I want a replacement Zoe as my one is continually faulting. I rely on it to drive to London from north Lincolnshire 4-5 times a month. I’m not insisting on a new car, simply one that works.
The dealer has now come up with figures to ‘sell’ me a new Zoe saying there aren’t any used ones available. They are asking for £5000+ extra to swap for a new car, but this feels unfair. What should I do?

Probably repeatedly faulty 'Charge Control Units' (if they are even replacing them). This also affects BMWs and MINIs. You are entitled either to a properly working car or to demand a replacement car from the dealer who sold you the Zoe and your request for an alternative used one (that works) is entirely reasonable.
Tell the dealer that if he does not fix your car, or supply you with another Zoe that works, you will have to have it fixed independently at whatever cost up to the £10,000 Small Claims limit and will sue him for that cost. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
