Nissan New Car delivery
My dad bought a new Nissan Qashqai from Glyn Hopkins in St Albans last month and was told that as the car was ordered by a customer who cancelled his order it would be available for deleivery within a month. He rang the garage 6 weeks later to enquire when the car would be ready for delivery when he was told that it would be another 3 weeks. He complained to Nissan head office who said they would look into it. They rang him back and said that they were a bit confused as their system is telling them that the car had been delivered. My dad rang Glyn Hopkins to ask them what was going on when he was told by the salesman that the car had been delivered to the Glyn Hopkins in Chelmsford to be a display car in their showroom for a month before it is delivered to my dad. As you can understand my dad is quite angry, what could he do to rectify this situation? Could he claim compensation?

That will be the term on which the car was bought by the dealer and he will have got a discount for the car having to remain a display model for a month. Your father should get a chunk of that discount. The trouble is, there are more customers than Qashqais and if your father does not have the car they can sell it to someone else very easily. You must make sure that your father is the first registered keeper, not the garage.
