voyager crd

My 2003 Voyager crd wont start, it turn`s over and tries to start but just won't kick in. I`ve been told it could be the head gasket, can anyone shed any further light on this matter?

If the engine is full of water it won't run. But may be a weak battery not lighting the glowplugs.
