Flooding

This morning during the rain deluge, I drove my Zafira through a deepish puddle (about 8") when I came out the other side it iust died and won't start. I say wont start, there is nothing there, all the lights on the dash light up but nothing happens when I turn the key. This happened at 6am and the car was towed home by 8. My local mechanic has said it just needs time to dry out, is this right?

If it's petrol, fingers crossed, your mechanic may be right. If it's diesel then the engine could have hydraulicked.
