Might Renault contribute to repairing my Megane CC's turbocharger?

I recently had a turbo failure (as assessed by Renault mechanics) which has caused the potential for a replacement engine on my Megane CC. I have made some investigations on the web and have found that this is a common problem with this engine. The car is an 05 plate and has done approximately 69,000 miles. The Renault garage I have servicing my car quoted £8000 for a replacement engine and all the ancillaries to go with it, which is more than the value of the car. Is there any recourse on Renault due to this fairly common problem?

A turbo alone costs £1000 - £1500 to replace. So where did the £8000 come from?
