Do diesel vehicles cause asthma?

In recent years the explosion in asthma cases has been blamed on the fact that all our homes are cleaner and therefore children do not build up an immunity to beat the disease. Has anyone made the link between the asthma explosion in recent years and the explosion (in recent years) of diesel vehicles on the roads? When I was a child the only main diesel vehicles were lorries, tractors and the odd Peugeot 205, and not many people had asthma at all.

No. It's more likely to be caused by dust in home and allergies to the junk food people eat too much of these days. I write as an asthma sufferer from age 2 to 12.
