Is the new Nissan Note better than the old one?

What changes, if any, have been made to the 1.5 dci engine/gearbox in the new model Nissan Note compared to the previous model? It seems to have the same quoted power and torque, but improved mpg and 0-62mph time. Also, have the seats been improved?

It's a Renault engine and Renault has a programme of continually improving its engines, much of it concentrated on the warm-up cycle so the engine gets to temperature faster and more cleanly. Before 2011 this engine did not need a DPF to qualify for EU4, but from January 2011 it needed one to meet EU5. Obviously it's now Euro 6. This same engine is also used in the Mercedes Benz A-Class. Test of the new Note with the 1.2DIG-S engine here, but the seats will be the same in the 1.5dCi: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/nissan/nissan-note.../
