Focus 1.8 TDCi injector problem

I just bought a used 57 plate Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi. I had it serviced and the guy said that the injector has a bit of a leak and the seals need to be replaced in 2/3 months otherwise the car is fine.

After a 100 + mile run, the car wouldn't start the next morning. It started for a second and then switched off. Battery was fine, saw some leakage on one of the injectors. The car wont start all day, it started today and a lot of black smoke came out and there is a oil/diesel spray on the drive way near the exhaust.

Does the oil turning black so soon after replacement indicate something serious or is it common on diesel cars ? And what does bleeding out mean?

Bleeding out means that he has got any air out of the fuel line between the fuel tank and the fuel filter. If air is getting past the injector seals then that is another problem. Diesels deposit a lot of carbon in their combustion chambers, so unless the old oil is flushed out and the engine is decarbonised by the Terraclean process (for example) this can turn fresh oil black in a matter of days. This is basically a very old engine that dates back to the I.6 diesel used in Fiesta, Orion and Sierra in the early 1980s. We don't recommend it.
